Frequently asked questions
Is midnight 00:00 or 24:00?
Midnight at the start of a day is 00:00. Some schedules write 24:00 for the end of a day, but this converter uses 00:00 to avoid confusion, so 24:00 is not accepted.
Is 12:00 PM noon or midnight?
12:00 PM is noon (12:00 in 24-hour time) and 12:00 AM is midnight (00:00). A minute after noon is 12:01 PM; a minute after midnight is 12:01 AM, or 00:01.
How is military time written?
Military time is usually written as four digits without a colon, such as 0730 or 1730, and often said as “seventeen thirty.” Everyday 24-hour time usually includes the colon: 17:30.
Do I need a leading zero?
In military style, yes: 7:30 AM is 0730. This converter accepts 730, 0730, 7:30, and 07:30 as 24-hour input.
