How to find your clock-out time

  1. Enter the time you started, such as 8:15am.
  2. Enter how many hours and minutes you need to work, not counting breaks.
  3. Enter your unpaid break in minutes. The clock-out time appears right away.

How it’s calculated

Clock-out time = start time + required working time + unpaid break

If the result passes midnight, the calculator labels it “Next day” (or the number of days later). More detail is on the methodology page.

Examples

Day shift

8:15 AM + 8 hours + 30-minute break = 4:45 PM.

Night shift

10:00 PM + 8 hours + 30-minute break = 6:30 AM next day.

Shorter day

7:00 AM + 7h 30m + 45-minute break = 3:15 PM.

Frequently asked questions

Should I include my lunch break?

Enter unpaid breaks in the break field so they are added to your time at work. Breaks you are paid for already count as working time, so leave them out.

What if my shift ends after midnight?

The result shows the clock-out time with a “Next day” label, or how many days later it is for very long shifts. For example, 10:00 PM plus 8 hours of work and a 30-minute break ends at 6:30 AM the next day.

Can I enter decimal hours?

Yes, when they equal whole minutes: 7.5 hours works (7 hours 30 minutes). For other values, enter hours and minutes separately.

Does it adjust for daylight saving time?

No. It adds time to the clock time you enter. If your shift crosses a daylight-saving change, the wall clock will show an hour earlier or later than the result.
